The space has been developed after studying closely some aspects of the culture in general, and slowly focusing to the very urban city of Seoul. To the simple gallery space, 4 layers of ‘perception’ have been defined to be wrapping the project like:
- The aura - the building background is associated to the exterior atmosphere
- The perpetual - the horizontal materiality is associated with the nature in South Korea
- The now - the vertical materiality is associated with the city of Seoul
- The transition - the colours from cultural tradition to modern communication
The shell construction is simplified and left as it comes, identical to a contemporary art gallery.
The functions of the space are made of display walls, little tilted to capture something from the light but also become the background.
The lighting is build in a double layer of beams arranged in a radial distribution over two vanishing points.

Born in 1979 in Paris, France. Lives and works in Paris. Tanc exhibited his work in various places across the world. His work is characterized by the uniqueness of his style, which is better understood acknowledging Tanc grew up as a graffiti artist.He sees street art as ephemeral, and that the creative process matters more than the result itself.To him, being an artist means embracing a certain way of life: to be fully committed, and show absolute integrity.At the turn of the century, he mainly focused on studio work. His exploration of the possibilities of the line allowed him to immediately stand out from the usual graffiti artists. His work strives towards synthesis of his name, of tags, of individuals, of music... of life. By focusing his work on line and color, he regenerates the pictorial tradition by confronting it with street art's essential vitality: prevalence of action, perfection of the gesture, acceptance of the unexpected, and expression of a strong singularity.Above all else, we are taken aback by the intensity of his work, by its musicality and by the remarkable resonance of lights and materials.Action, energy, and the artist’s emotion thus aim to touch the viewer in a sensual, intimate and immediate way.
Ah Ra Kim creates abstract works based on traditional Korean motifs (Dancheong) and architectural elements.
Understanding the structure of architecture as sculpture, she has worked on flat works that seek a sense of sculptural balance, as well as sculptures and installations that apply Dancheong motifs to wooden canvas frames.
<Vertical Line #3>
284 × 14.2 × 5.4 cm
acrylic and pigments on wooden stretcher for canvas 2024
Beams and purlins, the horizontal structures of traditional Korean architecture, are transformed into vertical structures. <Vertical line> intersects the horizontal structures of the ceiling in the SYSTEM Paris space. The space created by the intersection of horizontal and vertical lines is superimposed on the structure of the beams, purlins and columns of traditional Korean architecture, causing the viewer to reflect. The vertical structure of the ceiling and floor, and the space it creates, is a reflection of the intersection between traditional Korean and modern Western architecture.
<Untitled>
300 × 29.1 × 26.7 cm
The canvas frame, which is the support for the painting, is constructed like a sculpture by thinking of it as an architectural structure. The framing structure of the wooden canvas is superimposed on the framing structure of ancient Korean architecture, and the shape of the frame without the canvas conforms to the lattice structure, a traditional Korean architectural element. <Untitled> is a work on a shaped canvas with a vertical structure that resembles the superimposition of buildings in central Seoul.
Art furniture designer Hwang Hyung shin builds his own sculptural universe, inspired by the geometric architecture of his childhood urban environment and the constant construction and demolition of new buildings. His signature work, the Layered series, is an experiment in stacking, grouping and rebuilding wood and metal furniture to reconstruct architectural images from memory.
He specialized in wooden furniture at Hongik University and obtained his MFA from Dongguk University. Since her solo show at G Gallery in 2016, she has held four solo exhibitions and participated in international design shows such as the Berlin Design Festival, Tokyo Designers Week, Porte Tonic Art Center in France, Milan Triennale, Milan Design Week, as well as various projects in Korea and abroad.
« Seoul » edition in laminated steel This work reflects the specificity of the artist's region through the three-dimensionalization of geometric units. To express the dynamic blend of nature and city, past and present, and the collision of diversity, the artist has modified his previous work to create a sculpture with multiple sculptural elements. Based on vertical and horizontal lines, unitary objects of different heights and volumes are brought together to create a large sculpture, and each unit is divided by diagonal and curved lines. The proportions, directions and angles of the divisions are different yet harmonious, expressing the diversity of Seoul in the artist's sculptural language.
