The lookbook was shot with garments alone, without models, so Kim approached each piece of clothing as a presence in its own right. She removed each garment from where it would normally belong and placed it between natural and artificial settings. The aim was for the clothes to carry a story of their own, even without a model.
Ahead of the shoot, Kim settled on three keywords: "boundary," "harmony and contrast," and "unfamiliarity." Some garments were placed so that they blend into the trees and grass, while items with distinct color and form, such as the red trousers and shoes, were set to stand out against the landscape.
"I wanted to capture an ambiguous sensation: something that seems to have always belonged there, yet feels slightly unfamiliar on closer look."
— Haeun Kim
A further source of inspiration was SYSTEM 26FW "Nowhere Neat." What first caught Kim's attention in the collection's description was the image of a figure who is well put together yet slightly out of step, never fully belonging to one place.
"Having lived between Korea and France, I have often felt something similar."
— Haeun Kim
That shared sensation is where the collection's story and her own work meet.
